Week 49

Hopefully you have already reviewed your various life, health, disability, and property and casualty insurances with a trusted advisor.  If you have not, PLEASE do so!  Not only is this important to ensuring that you are properly covered, but you will likely find areas in which you are paying too much as well!  


Please reconsider the following questions:

1. How much life insurance would my spouse need if I were to pass away?  Remember that there should be sufficient to not only pay off any debts but also replace several years of income.  Stay-at-home moms need life insurance too!  (See attached life insurance worksheet if you need to recalculate how much you need)
2. How will my health insurance work in the event of a major illness like cancer or a major surgery?  How much would I end up owing?  What about disability?  Accidents and injuries?  Ancillary benefits like disability and critical illness policies are very important.  Remember that a high percentage of medical-related bankruptcies in the U.S. are filed by people WITH major medical health insurance!!
