Estate planning can be very simple or very complicated, depending on your situation. All of us, regardless of our situation should look at doing some estate planning. It may be as simple as writing up a will, or as complicated as getting with attorneys and figuring out multiple trusts and getting those trusts funded properly.
Regardless of where you are at financially, you need to make sure that what you have is going to go where you want, how you want, when you want, and to whom you want.

To Do List
O - Print out your Estate Planning Sheet and place it in your organizer.
O - If you have an attorney contact them about establishing a Last Will and Testament and a Living Will. If you do not have an attorney you can use our Generic Last Will and Generic Living Will in order to have at least something in place, but again please contact your attorney or a attorney to verify your state laws regarding Last Will's and Living Wills.
O - Read and place in your binder the "Facts, Misconceptions, and Common Mistakes of Estate Planning". O - If you or your advisor thinks it is necessary get your estate planning completed (usually you’ll need a trust attorney of some sort) Contact us for a trusted trust attorney in your area. (We are not attorneys.... but we know a few. :) ) |
